Happy, happy birthday to mom, dad, Amalia, and me! Here are more photos from our indoor garden party.
DIY ideas: For the spoon garden markers in the second photo, try this tutorial from Artsy Va Va. Instead of making my own drawings, I chose vintage botanical illustrations which I resized using Photoshop, to fit inside the spoon. We bought the spoons at an antique store for $1 each.
I've had my eye on the whimsical "Nature Table" dessert plates from Anthropologie for quite a while, so I was really excited when they went on sale. I immediately bought a set of my favorites (including the chameleon, above) and they were the perfect addition to the table. Not pictured is this tissue paper leaf garland from Martha Stewart, which I draped across the doorways and windows. It really brightened up the room, and was super easy to make.
And here's a recipe for Sparkling Mint Lemonade, from Williams Sonoma, which we served in jam jars (I also added some fresh ginger while making the simple syrup). Enjoy!

Since this year's winter was just way too cold and seemed way too long, I decided to make my own spring sunshine by throwing an indoor garden party to celebrate our March birthdays. Here's the first set of photos.
I bought a selection of mini succulents from Home Depot and some potted plants from our local garden store, then added in some small arrangements of cut flowers. For containers, I wanted an eclectic look so I used tin cans, milk glass, vintage vases, and found glass jars. I found the fleur-de-lis birdcage (top left in the first photo) on sale at Michael's and placed a couple of succulents inside. I actually left many of the potted plants in their original containers and just set them in terra cotta saucers.
To make the seed packet covers in the third photo, I simply wrapped seed packets with a vintage-style grid paper, then cut a square of floral card stock to embellish the top. I used a vintage-typewriter font for the flower names, which I printed on plain cardstock and cut out. A little double-sided tape (or glue stick), and voila! More photos to come...

A wedding inspired by sailors' ocean wanderings and mermaid's watery realms, featuring rustic driftwood, tide-worn pebbles, and pearly seashells. As a pisces I'm really drawn to this :) A color scheme that includes oyster grey and pale green-blue works well here, with nautical details that include a very unique sailing ships cake topper (By Madeline Trait) and a knotted rope boutonniere for the groom (Sea and Cake).
