A Purrrfect Valentine's Day
Monday, February 16, 2015
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! This year we treated ourselves to the ultimate indulgence of cuteness: a vintage kitten-themed tea party complete with yarn balls and strawberry "mice". There were several variations of the strawberries on Pinterest, and I just went with piping on some melted chocolate for the eyes (you can also use mini chocolate chips). My mom and I enjoyed sewing the adorable little pair of felt mice from this pattern on Rhythm & Rhyme. We made the cat brooches using a tutorial from Bloesem Kids, choosing patterned fabrics instead of the felt for the front. The "Meow" hand-embroidered hoop in raspberry and pink is available for sale in my shop. This sweet theme is also popular for girl's birthday parties so you could probably find some vintage cat and kitten birthday cards instead of the Valentine cards to add to the decor. Hope your Valentine's Day was just as purrrfect!

Treasury Time: A Far Off Place

Rolling red dunes, wide open blue skies, and exotic animals - an African adventure, anyone? The Kalahari would be an amazing destination for wedding (see some stunning photos here). Capture the beauty of this landscape with a palette in rusts and neutrals, natural materials like raffia and seed pods, and succulent plants along with vases of strikingly bare branches. My cake topper in "Kalahari" is perfect for a safari-inspired wedding in a mix of desert tan, zebra print, oxblood, coral, and a natural tribal print.

New Items: Spring Embroidery Hoops
Tuesday, January 28, 2014
Nothing says spring like cute little chicks! Here are some new hoop sets in the shop. The "Welcome Spring" hoop is hand-embroidered in tangerine orange, bright pink, green, and sky blue on pastel pink cotton fabric. I've added some hand-embroidery to the hen to make it pop a bit more (see the close-up photos).

The "Happy Easter" hoop set features a yellow chick in an egg cup and an Easter egg print, in a mix of spring brights and pastels.

Treasury Time: Love Birds
Tuesday, April 9, 2013
It's spring, and a bird-themed wedding is such a sweet way to celebrate all the love that's in the air. Included in this collection for love birds are little nests for place holders, mini bird cupcake toppers, and a tree stump cake stand made from natural wood. Feathers show up as part of a bridal hairpiece and delicately tied to invitations. A bird cage isn't just for holding cards - adorn it with flowers for a beautiful centerpiece, and to add to the woodland theme, use vintage field guides and binoculars as table decorations. I've tied it all together here with a color scheme of ivory and robin's egg blue.
